Vinyl fencing has become a popular option for both residential and commercial properties. Because it is durable, weather resistant and not at risk for cracking or growing mold, it can be used in a diverse range of settings and environments. Vinyl fencing is available in many different styles and colors. Because it will not fade, you never have to worry about repainting. However, there are a few things you can should do to ensure that your vinyl fence looks great year-round and lasts for many years to come.
Clean your vinyl fence. Even though the color will not fade and you do not have to worry about weathering or water damage, vinyl fences can still get dirty and dusty. Thankfully, cleaning a vinyl fence is simple. All you need to do is mix water and a gentle household cleaner in a bucket and use a sponge to wipe away any dirty, grime or algae. After sponging the fence, use a hose to rinse it off. Regular cleaning like this will keep your fence looking clean year-round.
Check its stability. Even though the fencing material is highly durable and can stand up to extreme weather, this does not mean that the dirt around the fence will always stay firm. Check your fence periodically to make sure none of the posts have come loose. The best time to check is just after winter when the snow is melting. If you happen to find any loose posts, use a shovel to pack the dirty tighter and add more dirt if necessary.
Check the fence caps. The caps on the top of your vinyl fence posts can sometimes come loose due to changes in temperature or other natural causes. To prevent this from happening, apply superglue to the fence post when you add the cap. This will fix it in place and guarantee that it does not come off, extending the life of your vinyl fence.
Always use quality repair materials. In the rare even that your vinyl fence does become damaged by weather or an accident, make sure you use quality replacement fencing. Not all vinyl fences are created equal and the cheaper models might not match the fence that you installed originally.
